Neckerchief for Colouring

Throughout the year we attend county events with cub sections from the local area. Leaders and cubs can find it hard to remember the neckerchiefs for individual sections. I printed out large versions of this neckerchief that we are now colouring and sticking to the den wall. When finished we will have one for each cub section in our county. "A neckerchief gallery."

Scout Hand and Whistle Signals Handout

The final stage of leader training in Ireland requires leaders to undertake a project that will be of benefit to the leader, their section or wider scouting. My project focused on scout hand and whistle signals. I have always found them useful. They are very easy to teach and are great time saver. Using some custom graphics I produced a number of visual aids that can be used as posters or handouts. We gave these handouts to our sixers who then taught their sixes.

Long time leaders will know these but they were designed with new leaders in mind.

Internationl Space Station View Times

A link to NASA's ISS Sighting Opportunities page. You can choose your own country and nearest city. The page gives you the dates / times and durations of upcoming fly overs. It's a great way for scouts to but the compass skills to work as your are also given the direction of approach and departure.
